The Millerton Fire Company provides full-time fire and EMS services to the residents and businesses of the town of Northeast and the Village of Millerton. The fire company is incorporated, and overseen by a board of commissioners that make up the Northeast Fire District, under which Millerton operates. Millerton has been in service since 1892, then known as the E.H. Thompson Hose Company. Millerton is staffed by approximately 70 volunteers, located in one station in the heart of the village. Millerton's Dutchess County Department Of Emergency Response ID number is "51". The number of calls the MFC runs in a calendar year totals on average in the mid 300's.

District layout

The Millerton Fire Company covers 53 square miles (140 km2) in the northeast corner of Dutchess County. A portion of the district lies within a valley, while the rest is on top of several mountains in the area. A variety of hamlets make up a good amount of the town itself besides the village of Millerton, including the hamlets of Boston Corners and Shekomeko. Millerton also has Rudd Pond, a Taconic State Park, as well as a few other bodies of water. All areas are tied together by Route 22, which runs through the middle of the town North to South, and US Route 44 which crosses it.

The fire district also provides services when requested to neighboring departments districts, which includes Amenia Fire Department in Amenia NY, and Lakeville Hose Company in Salisbury CT.
