Mikio Shimoji

Mikio Shimoji (下地 幹郎, Shimoji Mikio, born August 14, 1961) is a Japanese politician, an independent and member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Hirara, Okinawa and graduate of Chuo Gakuin University, he was elected for the first time in 1996 as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. He lost his seat in 2003 but was re-elected in 2005.

He joined People's New Party in 2008.
