Mike Whitehead is a Canadian wheelchair rugby player who received 12-month-long sanction for using of a stimulant in 2013.[1] He was also known for drinking which he began at the age of 13 but quit as soon as he got into a car accident which paralyzed his neck and legs. Soon after he came to Richmond Olympic Oval where he began to play rugby. His first game was against London Annihilators. Following that game, he participated at the 2013 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships which were hosted in Odense, Denmark.[2] During the 2012 London Paralympics he secured a win for his team against the Swedes[3] for which he won gold medal. Before that, he also won silver at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece.[4]
