Michael Ratchuk (born February 20, 1988) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who plays for the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. He has been a part of the Blades Cup-winning minor league team, in 2012. He is the brother of Peter Ratchuk, a professional hockey defenseman who has predominantly played in Europe.
Playing career
On October 20, 2009, Ratchuk was traded by the Philadelphia Flyers to the Columbus Blue Jackets for prospect Stefan Legein.[1] After winning the Kelly Cup with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, Ratchuk announced on June 19, 2012, that he had signed with Slovenian team, HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian Hockey League, the EBEL.[2]
After 42 games in the 2012–13 season with Ljubljana, Ratchuk returned mid-season to the Everblades on January 23, 2013.
As a free agent at season's end, Ratchuk signed to his third ECHL club, the Wheeling Nailers on August 9, 2013.[3]
