Michael Patrick[1] O'Brien (born June 22, 1976),[2] is an American actor, writer, and comedian, who is currently a writer on Saturday Night Live.
Career
O'Brien attended the University of Michigan, where he majored in film-video and was the founder and editor of a monthly comedy newspaper named The Anti-Daily. [3]
Mike then moved to Chicago and began taking improv and sketch classes. At iO Chicago he performed with a group called The Reckoning (2001-present). He also trained at the Second City in Chicago, eventually joining the company’s mainstage, where he performed for one year as a part of "America: All Better". [4]
Saturday Night Live
O'Brien became a member of the SNL writing staff in 2009 and then became a featured player in 2013:[5][6]
After one season as a featured player he returned to the writer's room for SNL's 40th season [7] Some of Mike's sketches include "Monster Pals" with James Franco as well as "Puppet Class" with Seth MacFarlane. His sketches "Grow a Guy", co written with Tim Robinson, and "The Jay Z Story" were each given the title card, "A Mike O'Brien Picture". [8]
He also created the web series "7 Minutes in Heaven with Mike O'Brien," for Above Average in which he interviews his fellow comedians and celebrities in a closet and then proceeds to try to kiss them. [9][10]
