Michael Joseph Arroyo (born January 9, 1985) better known by his stage name Mike Adam (formerly Prolifik) is an Albanian-American radio and television personality, Popstar! Magazine columnist, and former hip hop artist. He can currently be heard on WBMP (FM)/92.3 AMP Radio in New York City,[1] KWYD/Wild 101 in Boise, Idaho,[2] and WKZL/107.5 KZL in Greensboro, North Carolina.[3] Adam is a music correspondent on the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown[4] and Inside Edition,[5] and can be seen frequently on the Music Choice network as well.

Career

Mike Adam spent the majority of his radio career with iHeartMedia, Inc., having hosted nights on Hartford, Connecticut's WKSS/Kiss 95.7 for several years, then nights on Philadelphia's WIOQ/Q102 until being laid off in August 2014.[6] Adam decided to drop his former stage name, 'Prolifik', soon after landing in Philly.[7] While with iHeart, Mike Adam was a part of their RCHR Premium Choice syndicated programming. Some of the stations he could be heard on across the country via voice-tracking included Boston's WXKS-FM/Kiss 108, Washington, D.C.'s WIHT/Hot 99.5, Atlanta's WWVA/Wild 105.7 & 96.7, Baltimore's WZFT/Z104.3, Austin, Texas's KPEZ/102.3 The Beat, Phoenix, Arizona's KZZP/104.7 Kiss-FM, and others. Currently, CBS Radio owned 92.3 AMP in NYC is his flagship station.

In July 2011, after 10 weeks of fan voting, RadioFacts.com named Mike, aka Prolifik, the No. 1 DJ in the country.[8]

Adam's first job in television was as an entertainment reporter on Hartford, Connecticut's CW-affiliate, WCCT-TV, where he was nominated for a regional Emmy Award for his work on the station.[9] His first national TV break happened when Mark Cuban brought him on board the newly launched AXS TV as their east coast correspondent. Mike has also been seen on Fuse, Epix (TV network), VH1, Music Choice, The Movie Loft,[10] and locally on Philadelphia's WPHL-TV.

In January 2013, Mike Adam (alongside co-host Hayley Marie Norman) hosted a two-part music special called "Real Music Live" on NBC owned television stations. Markets included New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Miami.[11]

Music

Prior to getting into radio, Adam began rapping while in high school. In December 2007, he advanced to the finals in the Apollo Theater's legendary competition, "Amateur Night at the Apollo". Two singles released by Prolifik saw some success on the radio charts - "Broke",[12] a spoof of T-Pain's song Can't Believe It (T-Pain Song), and "Drunk Dialing".[13]

Personal life

Mike Adam married wardrobe stylist Sarah Rae Arroyo on June 20, 2014. The two grew up together in Southern Connecticut.
