Mihir Sen (16 November 1930 - 11 June 1997) was a long distance swimmer, best known for being the first Indian to swim across the English Channel, from Dover to Calais in 1958, and for swimming across five channels in one calendar year (1966). This included the Palk Strait, Dardanelles, Bosphorpous, Strait of Gibraltar and Panama Canal.[1] He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1959 and the Padma Bhushan in 1967.
