Miguel Hurtado[1] (born 22 April 1978 in Málaga, Spain) is a Spanish astronomer and a software developer.
He is a prolific discoverer of asteroids, comets and supernovae.
So far (August 2014) Miguel Hurtado[1] has discovered or co-discovered more than 2300 asteroids, 76 of them are NEOs (Near-earth object), including the asteroid 2012 DA14, 5 Comets and 19 Supernovae.
He was awarded with the 2010 Shoemaker NEO Grant[2] as La Sagra Sky Survey[3] Team Member.
Asteroid 632911 Miguelhurtado was named in his honor.
