The Middle East Cancer Consortium (MECC) is a regional initiative for cancer research and treatment. Established in 1996, MECC members include the USA, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, and Turkey. The MECC aims to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in the Middle East region through the solicitation and support of collaborative research and regional education. The motto that guides MECC in its dedicated work is: Respect all people, collaborate in fighting human suffering, and help build a bridge for better understanding among all.[1][2][3]

Leadership

Professor Michael Silbermann serves as the executive director of the MECC. Under his direction and leadership, MECC’s current reach now includes over 20 countries throughout the Middle East and northern Africa, collaborating to relieve suffering from cancer and provide treatments and therapies for it.[4]
