MidBoss, also known as MidBoss Games, is a company that was founded by the GaymerX team [1] as they expanded beyond just GaymerX into other ventures, specifically Gaming In Color and Read Only Memories, which launched a successful Kickstarter on December 12, 2013.[2][3] Their LinkedIn Page cites "MidBoss is a gaming, tech, and geek culture company based in San Francisco with a focus on the alternative and LGBT lifestyles that encompass gaming culture, founded by Matt Conn. We make GaymerX, Read Only Memories and Gaming in Color and we're all about creating a better world for queer geeks and their awesome friends."[4]

GaymerX

GaymerX (formerly GaymerCon) is a fan facing, LGBTQ-oriented gaming and geek culture, or gaymer, convention, with panels primarily focused on LGBTQ issues and debates in the gaming industry, founded by Matt Conn. It was founded in February 2012 and launched its Kickstarter on August 2, 2012[5] with a goal of $25,000. It hit its goal within 5 days [6] and ended up raising just over $91,000. The first convention happened on August 3 & 4th, 2013 in San Francisco, California.[7] Throughout the fundraising campaign, organizers added new support levels, in addition to existing support levels that include admission to the event and voice acting from Ellen McLain.[8] At a session during the convention, McLain took part as assistant on a marriage proposal to help an attendee propose to his boyfriend by voicing a version of the song Still Alive with reworked lyrics.

Read Only Memories

Read Only Memories is an upcoming cyberpunk adventure game, coming out on PC, Mac, Linux and OUYA on August 18, 2015, with console, iOS and Android releases slated for early 2016. It was successfully funded for $64,378 on December 12, 2013.[2][3]

Gaming In Color

Gaming In Color is an documentary film that focuses on queer gamers and industry workers, and the movement to include LGBTQ characters and themes in video game narratives. This project also received funding through a Kickstarter campaign in May 2013, and had a soft launch on April 22, 2014. It is currently being distributed by Devolver Digital [9] and going into wide release on major platforms on May 19, 2015.
