The Microsoft Lumia 640[2] and Microsoft Lumia 640 XL[3] are mid-range mobile devices announced by Microsoft at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 2, 2015,[4] and will be upgradable to Windows 10. It will be available in Dual-SIM and LTE variants from April.[5]
Hardware
The Lumia 640 comes with a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage with expandable support of 128GB via microSD card.[6] It has 2500mAh battery, 8 megapixel rear camera, 0.9 megapixel front camera etc other features.
Software
The Lumia 640 ships with Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim, but the phone is upgradable to Windows 10.[7] It comes with free one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365.[8]
Microsoft Lumia 640 XL
Despite sharing a similar name and serial number the Microsoft Lumia 640 and Microsoft Lumia 640 XL are distinct devices in both form and function, the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is a phablet with general higher specs and unlike the Microsoft Lumia 640, the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL features a Zeiss camera with 13MP and a 1/3″ sensor. It has 3000mAh battery. The 640 XL further includes matte flavours for all coloured covers and a glossy for white. There are four colors available: cyan, orange, black and white(non glossy and glossy).[9]
