Mick Nanyn (born 3 June 1982) is an English born Scottish rugby league footballer. Nanyn's usual position is Centre. He is a specialist goal-kicker, and has point scoring records at several of his previous clubs. Nanyn plays for Halifax after leaving Leigh Centurions at the end of the 2011 season. He also plays for Scotland.[1]

He joined European Super League side Harlequins RL for the 2009 season. He only managed a couple of appearances in trial games for the Quins.[2][3]

Nanyn has a growing reputation as a journeyman, previously playing for Widnes, Whitehaven, Rochdale Hornets and Swinton.

Nanyn signed for Widnes in 2006. In his first season at the club, he scored 388 points, breaking the record for most points scored in a single season, an accolade he took from Jonathan Davies.[4] He beat his own record a year later, scoring 434 points in 2007.[5]

In 2008 he beat Pat Rich's seven-year-old record at Oldham for points in a season (362, 139 goals, 21 tries).

He was named in the Scotland training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.[6]


Mick also works for a company called SWITCH alongside other professional rugby star Michael Ostick operating out of the Leigh Sports Village where they help to promote motivation and a feeling of accomplishment in people who have been struggling to find work. During said course they go on Aerial Assault courses and work out in the Gym on various pieces of equipment.

International honours

Mick Nanyn won caps for Scotland while at Whitehaven, Widnes and Oldham 2005...present 6-caps + 1-cap (sub).

Genealogical Information

Mick Nanyn is the son of the Wigan and Springfield Borough Second-row Forward, and Loose Forward of the 1970s and '80s, Michael "Mick" Nanyn.
