Michinoku Pro Wrestling (also known as North Eastern Wrestling) is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion, founded by The Great Sasuke in 1993. Michinoku Pro was the first independent wrestling promotion in Japan to not base its operations in Tokyo, but rather in Morioka, Iwate. The predominant wrestling style of the promotion is lucha libre, but Michinoku Pro has accepted wrestlers from various styles (such as shoot style and strong style) and backgrounds over the years. In 2003, Sasuke left the running of the promotion to Jinsei Shinzaki (who is the only heavyweight wrestler in the promotion), in order to concentrate on his duties as a newly elected Iwate Prefectural assembly member.
After a successful UK tour, current Michinoku Pro president Jinsei Shinzaki announced on July 1, 2012 that Michinoku Pro and 4 Front Wrestling (4FW) UK promotion have agreed a working agreement, 4FW Stars 'The Sheik' Behnam Ali (IRAN) and Owen Phoenix (UK) will be touring and training with Michinoku Pro for three Months.
