Michelle Lewis is a singer/songwriter who has released two solo albums. She has since worked as a songwriter for artists including Cher, Shawn Colvin, Hilary Duff, Kay Hanley and Kelly Osbourne.
Biography
Michelle Lewis was born to saxophonist Morty Lewis and his wife, a session singer. As a child, Lewis appeared regularly on Sesame Street and performed in commercials for Oreo and Coca-Cola.[1] She graduated from Columbia University, majoring in psychology, and soon became a jam musician, a member of the R&B vocal group Shades of Soul, and a songwriter for artists including Todd Terry and Amy Grant. Her debut album, Little Leviathan, was released in 1998, with production by Steve Fisk.[2]
Lewis moved to Los Angeles in 2002 and has since written for artists including Cher, Shawn Colvin, Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato, Little Mix and Kelly Osbourne. Her work appeared in Cinderella, Practical Magic, One Tree Hill and Felicity, among other films and TV series. Lewis formed a supergroup, The Dilettantes, in 2002 with Kay Hanley, Tracy Bonham and Nina Gordon.[1] With Lisa Loeb, she has written two music books and an album of camp songs, Camp Lisa.[3]
