Career highlights and awards

Michele Vitali (born October 31, 1991) is an Italian professional basketball player who currently plays for Pasta Reggia Caserta of the Serie A as a Shooting guard.

He comes from a basketball family as his brother is fellow player Luca Vitali with whom he played one season for Virtus Bologna and presently for the Italian national basketball team, their parents were also players.[1]

Professional career

Progressing through the youth ranks of home town club Virtus Bologna he made his first division debut in 2009 playing a solitary minute, that was his only appearance of the season and after hardly playing more the next was loaned to third division side Gira to gain experience.

Coming back to Virtus the next season he began to accrue playing time but he remained a fringe player, prompting him to join cross town Biancoblù Basket Bologna of the Legadue. His time with the white and blue proved successful, he established himself as a starter for the team and even participated in the league All star game.[2]

This garnered interest from Serie A clubs and he joined Juvecaserta Basket for the 2013-14 season.[3]

Italian national team [4]

He started in the under age categories of the Italian national basketball team, most notably winning the silver medal at the 2011 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, before joining the senior team in 2014 playing a bit part in FIBA EuroBasket 2015 qualification in which they qualified for FIBA EuroBasket 2015.
