Michael Phelan was the Chief Police Officer of the Australian Capital Territory Police.[1]

Phelan commenced his career with the Australian Federal Police in 1985.[2] Subsequent to being promoted to the rank of commander in 2002, he became assistant commissioner in 2004.[2] He was appointed to his current position in September 2007 at the age of 44.[2]

In March 2010, Phelan was succeeded as Chief Police Officer by Roman Quaedvlieg.[3]
