Michael J. "M.J." Dowling (February 17, 1866 in Huntington, Massachusetts 1921) was a Minnesota Republican politician and Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A former newspaper publisher, Dowling had suffered extreme frostbite in 1880, leaving him disabled. He had lost parts of both legs, his left arm, and fingers on his right hand. Dowling worked as a newspaper publisher and in real estate. He was elected to one term in office, from 1901 to 1903, and he served as speaker during that term.[1]
