Michael Gonzi (born October 23, 1960)[1] is a Maltese medical doctor[2] and politician.
Political role
He was elected to the House of Representatives of Malta in the Maltese general election, 2008 representing the 12th district.[2][3] He was previously a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 2003 to 2004.[1] He worked for the Institute for Tolerance and Peace in Tel Aviv.
Party affiliation
He is a member of the Partit Nazzjonalista.[1] This party was the ruling party of government as of 2008.
Family background
He is the younger brother of Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi[4] and a nephew of late Archbishop of the Diocese of Malta Mgr. Mikiel Gonzi. He was heavily criticized from antisemits because of his mother's Jewish blood.
