Michael Chen (simplified Chinese: 陈赫; traditional Chinese: 陳赫; pinyin: Chén Hè; born 9 November 1985) is a Chinese actor.
Chen is noted for playing Zeng Xiaoxian in the romantic comedy television series IPartment, which enjoyed the highest ratings in China when it was broadcast.[2]
Life
Chen was born in Changle, Fujian on November 9, 1985, the son of Hu Xiaoling (胡小玲), an actress.[3] Chen's uncle is Chen Kaige, a noted Chinese director. Chen graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, majoring in acting.
In 2009, Chen starred in a romantic comedy television series IPartment, alongside Eric Wang, Deng Jiajia, Loura Lou, Sean Sun, Kimi Li, Jean Lee and Vanessa Zhao, the series was one of the most watched ones in mainland China in that year. Chen also filmed in a number of successful sequels to IPartment.
In 2013, Chen participated in Longmen Express, an ancient costume comedy starring Anita Yuen and Guo Jingfei.
Personal life
In September 2013, Chen married high school sweetheart Layla Xu (simplified Chinese: 许婧; traditional Chinese: 許婧; pinyin: Xǔ Jìng) in Phuket Island, Thailand, who was a graduate of Zhejiang Institute of Media.[4] However,their marriage came to an end in 2014. Michael Chen has confessed on weibo recently,the main reason for them to break up was that Michael Chen was so busy with work that he merely spent 10 days staying at home last year and did not take the responsibility for the family.
