Micah Makanamaikalani Christenson (born May 8, 1993 in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States) is an American volleyball player, a member of the American national team a gold medalist of the NORCECA Champion 2013 and FIVB World League 2014. He begins his senior level tournament with NORCECA Champion 2013 at age 20. He was the youngest starting setter to ever compete for the U.S. on a national team for both junior level and senior level.

Personal life

His parents are Robert and Charlene Christenson. He has a sister Joanna. Father played basketball at University of Hawaii-Hilo. Mother played volleyball at University of Hawaii-Hilo where she won three national championships and was named a two-time All-American. Micah also played basketball. His high school team won the state championship when he was a sophomore and reached the championship game again in 2010. Micah began playing club volleyball in 2005 with Asics Quicksilver. Favorite food is his mom’s fried rice. Favorite book is the Bible. Favorite sports team is the Dallas Mavericks and favorite athlete is Larry Bird. Hobbies include hanging out with friends at the beach. Most admired people are his parents. Micah says that his best moment in life is still to be determined.

Career

Micah Christenson was a star basketball and volleyball player for Kamehameha High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, he led his teams to three state championship titles (basketball in 2009 and both sports in 2011) and played in a total of six state championship games. He was a starter on the U.S. Junior National Team that won a gold medal in the 2010 NORCECA Junior Championship in Canada and also played the FIVB 2009 Boy's Youth World Championship in Italy. In 2011 he played for the U.S. Junior National Team during the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship in Brazil where the team placed fourth, the U.S.’s highest finish at the tournament to date.He captained the U.S. Junior National Team to win gold medal at the 2012 NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was supposed to play on the 2013 U.S. Men’s Junior National Team, but got called up to the senior team instead. He debuted with the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2013 NORCECA Continental Championship and named Best Server and Best Setter in this tournament. In this year he competed the 2013 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup. In 2014 he won gold medal 2014 FIVB World League.
