As a private corporation, MetroLEC is able to keep its internal organization and operations out of the public's view.[3] It does not have a web site. The group was established sometime before 2004.[4] Richard Stillman, the Waldpole chief of police served as the group's president for ten years.[5]
Its fleet includes at least one armored car and a mobile command post.[6]
Misconduct
In 2009 NEMLEC and not MetroLEC paid $200,000 to settle allegations it made false statements to gain a grant from the US Justice Department.[7]
