Metanarthecium is a genus of monocotyledonous flowering plants native to eastern Asia. Its only known species is Metanarthecium luteoviride, known from Japan, Korea, and the Kuril Islands.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Two varieties are recognized:[1]

  1. Metanarthecium luteoviride var. luteoviride - Japan, Korea, and the Kuril Islands
  2. Metanarthecium luteoviride var. nutans Masam. - Yakushima
