Merrill F. Nelson[1] (born July 16, 1955 in Tooele, Utah) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives representing District 68[2] since January 1, 2013.

Early Life and Career

Nelson earned his BS in agricultural economics from Brigham Young University and his JD from J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Political career

During the 2013 and 2014 legislative sessions, Nelson served on the Executive Offices and Criminal Justice Appropriations Subcommittee, the Retirement and Independent Entities Appropriations Subcommittee, the House Economic Development and Workforce Services Committee, the House Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Committee, and the House Retirement and Independent Entities Committee. During the interim, Nelson served on the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Interim Committee, the Public Utilities and Technology Interim Committee, and the Retirement and Independent Entities Interim Committee.[6]
