Meredith Frampton

Meredith Frampton RA (London 17 March 1894 1984) was a British painter and etcher, successful as a portraitist in the 1920s.

Frampton was educated at St John's Wood Art School and then at the Royal Academy Schools. He was the son of the sculptor George Frampton[1] and his wife, the painter Christabel Cockerell. His artistic career was short and his output limited because his eyesight began to fail, but his work is on display at the National Portrait Gallery,[2] Tate Gallery[3] and Imperial War Museum. He was made an R.A. (member of the Royal Academy) in 1942.
