The South Korean (officially the Republic of Korea) Memorial Day (Korean: 현충일 (顯忠日), Hyeonchung-il) is held every June 6[1] to commemorate the men and women who died while in military service during the Korean War and other significant wars or battles.
On this day, a memorial ceremony is held in the National Cemetery in Seoul, starting from 1956. At 10 A.M. on Memorial Day, a siren rings all over the country, and people have silent prayers for 1 minute. Also, the South Korean flag is flown at half-staff.[2]
