Memecylon sylvaticum is a species of plant in the Melastomataceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka. It its reportedly found in Dolukanda on an isolated hill in Kurunegala district.
Leaves
broadly ovate, base tapering, abruptly acuminate to obtuse apex, veins inconspicuous.
Trunk
twigs cylindrical.
Flowers
deep violet petals, white to pink calyx, large, nearly sessile; Inflorescence - cymes small, crowded at leafless nodes.
Fruits
ovoid, dark purple berry, crowned with calyx.
Ecology
monsoon and rain forest understory.
