Memecylon rostratum is a species of plant in the Melastomataceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
small, lanceolate to oval, base tapering, caudate-acuminate to obtuse apex, faint veins.
Trunk
Wood - yellow, smooth, hard; branchlets numerous; twigs compressed or nearly quadrangular.
Flowers
pale blue, very small; Inflorescence - stalked umbels in leaf axils or leafless nodes.
Fruits
small, globose berry.
Ecology
rain forest understory of wet zone.
Culture
Known as "kuratiya - කූරටියා" in Sinhala.
