Memecylon capitellatum is a species of plant in the Melastomataceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka. It is known as "weli kaha - වැලි කහ" by local Sinhalese people.
Leaves
oblong to rhomboid-oval, base acute, obtuse apex, bright light green, shiny, lateral veins inconspicuous, intermarginal faint, petiole short.
Trunk
twigs brown, cylindrical.
Flowers
violet-blue, large, sessile, few together; Inflorescence - small heads.
Fruits
black-purple, globose berry, crowned with large calyx.
Ecology
monsoon and rain forest understory.
