In fact, CBBC’s spin off show “Slammer”, which also won a BAFTA in 2007, would not have been complete without Melvin’s theatrical 'talents' as a desperate inmate trying to escape.

Melvin studied media and drama at A-Level and gained a Media Performance and Radio degree from 'university', where he met Comrade Rickie. He has not strayed far from his media roots and together Rickie and Melvin play an 'integral' part in today’s young urban scene. Through their online presence with Twitter, Facebook and Myspace and website Welcome to 21, they promote roof raising events, talking points and projects.

Melvin has taught dance and drama to kids with behavioural issues and also worked at a community centre for young people in London.

A child actor, Melvin performed in a number of theatre productions and even gave speeches to governors for youth council. Both Rickie and Melvin are now the Prince’s Trust ambassadors which they are very proud to be involved with helping young adults in life.

As of 2013 Melvin is a team captain on the BBC Three panel show Sweat the Small Stuff.
