Melbourne tram route 64 is operated by Yarra Trams on the Melbourne tram network. It operates from Melbourne University to East Brighton via Windsor, Caulfield.

At night times, passengers for route 5 to Malvern are required to board route 64 and transfer to route 5 shuttles on Dandenong Road.

History

Route 64 commenced operating on 24 July 1934, but the running of trams on the roads which it runs on today began in 1925, when the Glen Huntly Road to Brighton Cemetery line opened.[3] Although the route number for that service remains unknown, the first service to run as route 64 was the Brighton Cemetery to St Kilda Beach route, commencing service on the 24 July 1934.[4] From it's terminus at the corner of North and Hawthorn Roads, the service ran up Hawthorn Road turned in to Dandenong Road then ran up Queens Way to St Kilda Junction, into Fitzroy Street to the St Kilda Beach terminus in front of today's Luna Park.

On 5 December 1937, route 64 was extended down Hawthorn Road to the present day terminus in East Brighton at the corner of the Nepean Highway and Hawthorn Road.
