Melbourne Bus Link was an Australian bus and coach operator in Melbourne. As a Melbourne bus company, it operated nine bus routes under contract to the Government of Victoria.
History
In April 1998 a consortium owned by Dyson Group and Reservoir Bus Company commenced operating a contract to operate the remaining bus services of Met Bus in the western and south-east regions of Melbourne. Included were depots at Footscray and Sandringham and 86 MAN SL200 buses.[1]
In April 2013 Transdev Melbourne were announced as the preferred tenderer to operate the Melbourne Metropolitan Bus Franchise. The franchise included the services operated by Melbourne Bus Link.[2][3] Melbourne Bus Link ceased operating on 3 August 2013.
Routes
Melbourne Bus Link operated nine bus routes. The routes served the Melbourne City Centre and the western and inner south east and southern Bayside suburbs.
Footscray depot routes
- 215 Caroline Springs – Highpoint Shopping Centre via Albion station & Burnside Shopping Centre (Daily)
- 216 Caroline Springs – Brighton Beach via Deer Park West, Sunshine, Footscray, Melbourne City Centre, St Kilda Road & Prahran (Daily)
- 219 Sunshine Park – Gardenvale via Sunshine, Footscray, Melbourne, St Kilda Road & Prahran (Daily)
- 220 Sunshine – Gardenvale via Footscray, Melbourne, St Kilda Road & Prahran (Daily)
- 223 Yarraville – Highpoint Shopping Centre via Seddon & Footscray station (Daily)
- 232 Altona North – Queen Victoria Market via Altona Gate Shopping Centre & West Gate Freeway (Daily)
Sandringham depot routes
- 922 Westfield Southland - St Kilda light rail station via North Brighton station, Sandringham station & Cheltenham station (Daily)
- 923 Westfield Southland - St Kilda light rail station via Brighton Beach station, Sandringham station & Cheltenham station (Daily)
Shared depot routes
- 600 Westfield Southland - St Kilda light rail station via Brighton Beach station, Sandringham station & Cheltenham station (Daily)
Fleet
When operations ceased in August 2013, Melbourne Bus Link operated 86 buses, primarily Volgren bodied Scanias.[4] The fleet livery was white with purple and orange stripes.
