Melvin Breeden, better known as Mel-Man, is a producer from Norfolk, Virginia. He is the President and CEO of Big Cat Records and Radar Live, which Billboard Magazine placed at #13 on their list of Top Rap Labels in 2005.[1]
1990s
Mel-Man released Freak Nasty's "Da' Dip" independently in 1996 and sold more than 1.5 million copies. He was nominated for a MTV VMA award in 1997. Breeden also marketed and released independent projects from Ghetto Mafia, Spice 1, and MC Breed.
Big Cat Records
Big Cat Records, a record label co-founded by Breeden, has worked on projects such as Maceo’s Straight Out Da Pot, Rasheeda’s GA Peach, Khia’s Nasti Muzik, and Gucci Mane’s Trap House, Hard to Kill, Trap-A-Thon, and Hood Classics.
Big Cat Records has been worked with the Dipset franchise and Diplomat Records president Freekey Zekey to release his second album entitled Loyalty Is Everything.
