Medknow Publications is an academic publisher of peer-reviewed open access academic journals published on behalf of scholarly societies and learned associations.

History

Medknow Publications was founded in 1999 by an individual proprietor. It was acquired by Wolters Kluwer in Dec 2011 as part of Wolters Kluwer Health.[1] Medknow uses the "fee-less-free" model and provides immediate free access to the electronic editions of the journals without charging the author or author's institution for submission, processing, or publication of the articles.

The Medknow journal Journal of Natural Pharmaceuticals was among the publications to accept an obviously bogus manuscript as part of the 2013 Who's Afraid of Peer Review? sting.[2]
