Mecyna submedialis

Mecyna submedialis, the Orange-toned Mecyna Moth, is a moth in the Crambidae family. It was described by Grote in 1876.^[1] It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Ontario and Michigan, south to Florida and west to Arkansas. It has also been recorded from Alberta.

The wingspan is about 25 mm.^[2] The forewings are light orangish-yellow with jagged brown antemedial and postmedial lines. The reniform spot has the form of a short horizontal brown bar and the orbicular spot is small and solid brown. The area between the reniform spot and antemedial line is clear yellow, surrounded by orangish-brown shading. The subterminal line is zigzagged. The hindwings are pale greyish-yellow with irregular postmedial line.^[3] Adults have been recorded on wing from July to August.
