Maxxsonics USA is a manufacturer of home, mobile, car and marine audio equipment headquartered in Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA. The company produces audio equipment under the brand names Hifonics, MB Quart, Crunch, Autotek and MAXXLINK.[1]
History
Alden Stiefel founded Maxxsonics in 2001. The company acquired the assets of API, Audio Products Incorporated which owned the brands Hifonics (founded in 1981 by Helmut Stieglitz) and Crunch.[2][3] Autotek was acquired by Maxxsonics in 2004.[4] MB Quart Entertainment was a separate German company, founded in Germany in 1962 by "Microphone Builder" and Quart, which Maxxsonics acquired in 2005.[5] In the words of Alden Stiefel: "We find distressed companies and turn them around."[6]
In November 2012, the company announced a licensing deal with West Coast Customs to promote and use Maxxsonics products on the television show Inside West Coast Customs.[7]
Products
Autotek, Crunch and Hifonics are Maxxsonics subbrands for mobile electronics including amplifiers, woofers, coaxial and component speakers, and signal processors.
MBQuart is the Maxxsonics subbrand for home, mobile and marine audio electronics including home theater speakers and sub-woofers, mobile and marine amplifiers, woofers, and coaxial and component speakers.
MAXXLINK is the subbrand for mobile and marine audio installation accessories featuring amplifier installation kits, RCA cable, power cables, distribution and fusing components, sound deadener and capacitors.
