The Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund simply known as MMBF Trust [4] is a charitable trust headquartered in Nottingham, United Kingdom,[5] with offices in London and Glasgow.[6][7] It is a non-profit organization that is incorporated in United Kingdom,[8] and is privately funded.[9] The Trust describes its goal as to:

support individuals whose careers are at standstill due to having no resources to move their careers forward

The MMBF provides sponsorships and grants to aspiring pilots and young film-makers worldwide,[10][11] with their primary support being towards education and training in both industries. MMBF also supports events and institutions in both the film and the aviation industry.[12][13][14]

Activities

The MMBF is a sponsor for 2014's Bath Film Festival which will run from the 13–23 November 2014. The Trust is also a sponsor of Witin Radio's Fall 2014 Music Festival.[15]

On 20 October 2014 it was reported that Colchester Film Festival would introduce the Matthew Martino Rising Star Award in association with MMBF.[16][17] The purpose of the award was to 'encourage new and emerging British film-makers by publicising their talent and supporting their future work'.[18][19]

On the 17th of December MMBF Trust announced through social networks that they would sponsor Daisi Pollard as she represents Ms California in the Ms U.S. Universe 2015 pageant.[20][21]

Projects

MMBF currently offers sponsorship and grants to aspiring pilots and film-makers.[22][23] The Trust announced a £15,000 funding budget for the 2014 year.[24] Their aviation related grants will cover costs towards Private Pilot License, Pilot study packs and aviation related courses from recognised schools.[25] Their film-making grants will sponsor First time film directors under 21, Film festival submission costs and acting tuition fees at credited drama schools and training organisations.[26][27][28][29]

In early 2015, MMBF launched a resident award scheme dubbed 'MMBF Rising Star Award',[30] the award is described an award to acknowledge achievement of a film-maker or actor. The award is currently being run in partnership with the following film festivals Cardiff Mini Film Festival,[31] Winchester Short Film Festival,[32] Cutting East Film Festival[33] and Junior Galway Film Fleadh.[34]

In February 2015 MMBF announced that they have launched a filmmakers competition with Great Worqs a filmmakers and writers platform.[35][36] MMBF Trust also runs a filmmakers competition in partnership with Galway African Film Festival which was launched in March 2015. [37] [38]
