Matt Wilson Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Tifton, Georgia, USA.
History
The school was opened in 1956 for elementary and high school students from the African American community. It was built on land sold to the Tift County Board of Education by Matt Wilson, a farmer and community leader. In 1971, Matt Wilson School was integrated, and all Tift County seventh graders attended Matt Wilson Junior High School. In 1995, the school was reconfigured to include fifth and sixth, as well as seventh grades. Matt Wilson’s current grade configuration of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade has been in place from 1998 to the present.

Testing
Fifth graders take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. All grades take the Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests in the spring. Students must score an 800 or higher to pass reading and science of the CRCT, and 300 or higher to pass math, language, and social studies.
