Matthew "Matt" Williams (born 28 March 1973), Australian politician, has been a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives since September 2013, representing the Division of Hindmarsh, South Australia.[1]
Williams was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and worked for one of South Australia’s largest law firms before entering politics at the 2013 election, when he contested the seat of Hindmarsh. He received a 7.97 percent two-party-preferred swing, defeating Labor incumbent Steve Georganas, and holds the seat with a 1.89 percent margin, making Hindmarsh the most marginal seat in South Australia. Hindmarsh was the only seat in South Australia to change hands at the 2013 election. Williams is only the third non-Labor MP in Hindmarsh's history, and the first to unseat a Labor incumbent.
