Matt Lynch is a Republican former member of the Ohio House of Representatives.[1] He was appointed to the position in April 2012.[2] He considered running for the seat in 2010, but decided not to when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.[3] In November 2012 Lynch was elected as representative for the 76th District, which replaces the 98th District.[4]

Lynch practiced law for 30 years for his family owned law firm and was elected Trustee of Bainbridge Township in 2007. In 2011 Lynch ran for Chardon Municipal Judge, but lost to Democrat Terri Stupica.[5] He is married with grandchildren.[1]

In 2014, Lynch launched a primary election challenge against Congressman Dave Joyce, claiming to be the more conservative candidate.[6] Joyce won the primary with 55% of the vote, and easily won the November general election.[7][8] Sarah LaTourette was elected to replace Lynch in the Ohio House.[8]
