Matt Lampson (born September 6, 1989) is an American soccer player who currently plays for the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer.
Career
Youth and College
Lampson played on the collegiate level at the Northern Illinois University in 2008, before moving to Ohio State University in 2009, where he played until 2011. While at OSU, Lampson earned a series of accolades including All-Big Ten First Team (2010), All-Big Ten Second Team (2009, 2011), All-Great Lakes Region First Team (2010), Big Ten co-Freshman of the Year (2009), eight Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors, and All-Big Ten Fall Academic Team (2011).[1]
Professional
Lampson was signed by Columbus Crew as a Home Grown Player on December 15, 2011.[2]
He made his professional debut on May 29, 2012 in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup against Dayton Dutch Lions.[3]
He made his MLS debut on August 26, 2012 in a regular season game against New England Revolution in relief for Andy Gruenebaum. He managed to seal a 4-3 victory.
