Matthew Herr (born May 26, 1976 in Hackensack, New Jersey and raised in Alpine, New Jersey) is a retired American ice hockey forward who played for part of four NHL seasons.

He played hockey at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, where he was captain of the team.[1][2]

Herr played his college hockey at the University of Michigan, where he was teammates with former NHLer Bill Muckalt. Drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, Herr also played for the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins.

Herr now teaches history and psychology, as well as coaching hockey and baseball at Kent School, in Kent, Connecticut.
