Mathur is a panchayat union in the Krishnagiri District in Tamil Nadu, India.[1][2] Mathur is the Taluk Headquarters of Mathur Taluk. Mathur is surrounded by Kandili Taluk towards North, Uthangarai Taluk towards South, Bargur Taluk towards North, Tiruppattur Taluk towards East. Mathur is one of the 10 revenue blocks in Krishnagiri District and consists of 24 panchayat villages.
Mathur has a Someshwar temple and a Vishnu temple. The Someshwar temple is believed to be at least 450 years old and is famous for the pradosham poojas and circumambulations around the temples on full moon days.
