Mathilde Seigner (born 17 January 1968) is a French actress.

Seigner was born in Paris, France. She is the granddaughter of the respected French actor Louis Seigner (1903-1991). She is the sister of the actresses Emmanuelle Seigner (and sister-in-law of Roman Polanski) and Marie-Amelie Seigner, and the niece of Françoise Seigner.

Career

Her acting performances have been confined to French language films, but she has appeared in a number of notable productions. She won Best Actress at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2001 for her role in Betty Fisher and Other Stories and has been nominated for a César Award three times.

The younger daughter of Louis Seigner, she studied comedy at Florent (very famous french school of theater), before making her first appearance in theaters in 1994, alongside her sister Emmanuelle in Smile Claude Miller.

She received the Prix Michel Simon in 1995 for her role in Rosine by Christine Carrière. Two years later, Mathilde won a Cesar Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a transformist in Nettoyage à sec(Dry Cleaners). She won the "Romy Schneider Prize in 1999. Mathilde Seigner is appreciated for her spontaneity and strong character, she quickly gained favor with the public, thanks to the nostalgic Une hirondelle a fait le printemps (One Swallow Brought Spring) (2001), in which she portrays a city dweller who discovers the joys of the countryside. But refusing labels, which embodied "Madame Sans-Gene" is also illustrated in auteur cinema. After a brief absence from the screen , she returned in 2009 with three dramatic comedies about family (Quelque chose à te dire, Trésor and Une semaine sur deux (et la moitié des vacances scolaires)). After a first experience in carrying holidays with Fini les vacances (End of holidays) (2010), the actress returns to the cameras in two popular comedies ( Camping 2 and the remake of La guerre des boutons(War of the Buttons)( 2011).

In 2012, in the dark thriller Dans la tourmente (In the turmoil) of Christophe Ruggia Clovis Cornillac and Yvan Attal, Seigner shows the path of drama this year with Bowling, on the fight against hospital staff the closure of a maternity and then Max, a sentimental drama that depicts a love affair with a young widower father , played by Joey Starr. In 1994 she met Antoine Duléry, but they separated in 1998. Then she had a love affair with the comic Laurent Gerra. Since October 2011, Mathilde has lived with Mathieu Petit, a cameraman. Their son, Louis, is born the 10 of August 2007.

César Award controversy

On February 24, 2012, during the César Award ceremony, she interrupted[2] Michel Blanc the same way Kanye West did Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV’s Video Music Awards.[3]
