Mathias Sommerhielm

Mathias Otto Leth Sommerhielm (Kolding, Denmark, 22 August 1764  Stockholm, Sweden, 15 November 1827) was a Danish9-Norwegian politician.

Biography

Sommerhielm was born in Kolding, Denmark. He graduated in law from the University of Copenhagen in1782 before moving to Christiania. After Denmark's loss of Norway to Sweden in 1813, he served as First Minister from 1815 to 1822, a position assigned to the most prominent cabinet minister at the time. In 1822, he became Prime Minister of Norway, an office located in Stockholm. He held the office until 1827, when the seat was vacated.
