Mata Jai Kaur Public School was established in 1977 at Ashok Vihar, Delhi, by Bhai Sahib Ditta Mal Ji in memory of his revered wife, Mata Jai Kaur ji. The school is spread across lush green 5-acres of land which provides friendly and beautiful environment to students to study. The school is situated in Ashok Vihar, in front of Sunder Lal Jain Hospital. The school is affiliated to C.B.S.E., New Delhi.

The school has 4 houses, named after Maharaja Ranjit Singh (M.R.S.), Bhai Vir Singh (B.V.S), Banda Singh Bahadur (B.S.B) and Hari Singh Nalva (H.S.N) each headed by a house master. The school accommodates 2,500 students with 90 trained teachers.

The motto of school is "shubh karman tey kabhoon naa taroon" (in Punjabi) meaning "one should never deviate from doing a good deed".

Mata Jai Kaur Public School also has a sister school, Jaspal Kaur Public School, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi.

The school is managed by Mata Jai Kaur Charitable trust, led by S. Surjit Singh (chairman).

Currently, Col. Ashok Kaul is the principal of the school.
