Marta Bartel (born 20 May 1988), née Przeździecka, is a Poland chess Woman Grandmaster (2009).
Chess career
Since 2000 participated in Polish Junior Championships in different age categories. The first medal success was achieved in 2004 in Łeba when Marta won the silver medal among juniors under the age of 16. In the same year, she participated in the European Youth Chess Championship and taking fifth place in U16 category. In 2005, she won the bronze medal in Polish Junior Championship under 20 in the Środa Wielkopolska. In the same year she appeared for the first time in the final Polish Women's Chess Championship's in Suwałki. 2006 was by far the best in her career. First made a big surprise, sharing 1st place in Polish Women's Chess Championship's in Trzebinia and lost additional game for the gold medal to Jolanta Zawadzka).[1] Then took fourth place in Polish Junior Championship under 20 in the Środa Wielkopolska. Another successfully completed a performance in the European Individual Women's Chess Championship in Kuşadası. In the event that took 16th place (of 96 participants) and proved to be the best Polish competitor. In 2012 Marta won team silver medal in Students World Chess Cup in Guimarães.[2] In 2014 she won bronze medal in Polish Students Women's Chess Championship's in Katowice.[3] Also she won 2 gold medals (2009, 2012) in Polish Women's Team Chess Championships.[4]
Marta Bartel played for Poland in Women's Chess Olympiads:[5]
- In 2006, at reserve board in the 38th Chess Olympiad in Dresden (+6, =1, -3),
- In 2008, at third board in the 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin (+1, =0, -2),
- In 2014, won individual silver medal at fourth board in the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromsø (+4 =5 -0).
Marta Bartel played for Poland in World Team Chess Championships:[6]
- In 2007, at reserve board in the Women's World Team Chess Championship 2007 in Yekaterinburg (+4, =2, -1),
- In 2015, at fourth board in the Women's World Team Chess Championship 2015 in Chengdu (+2, =2, -3).
Marta Bartel played for Poland in European Team Chess Championship:[7]
- In 2007, won team silver medal at reserve board in the 7th European Team Chess Championship (women) in Heraklion (+2, =1, -1),
- In 2013, at fourth board (Poland III) in the 10th European Team Chess Championship (women) in Warsaw (+3, =3, -3).
Personal life

Marta sister Ewa Przezdziecka is a chess player who holds the title of Woman FIDE Master (WFM) in 2011.[8]
In 2013 Marta married with International Grandmaster (GM) Mateusz Bartel.[9]
