Marshall Wright (born c. 1975) is a lawyer from Forrest City, Arkansas, who is a Democratic member of the Arkansas House of Representatives for Monroe County and portions of St. Francis, Woodruff, and Lee counties in the eastern portion of his state adjacent to the Mississippi River.
Wright is a native of Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Foreman High School in Foreman in Little River County in southwestern Arkansas. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and a law degree from the UA School of Law.[1] He is affiliated with Rotary International, the Arkansas and St. Francis County bar associations, and the foundation board of the East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City. On three occasions, he has been named "Volunteer Attorney of the Year" in St. Francis County. He is a member of the United Methodist Church.[2]
Wright was elected to the legislature in 2010 in District 51, when he defeated the Republican Anna Marie Grizzle (born c. 1970) of Brinkley, 4,224 votes (59.5 percent) to 2,877 (40.5 percent). He won in District 49 in 2012, when Republican Jeremy Gillam, the current House Speaker, was moved to District 45, and again in 2014.[2]
Wright sits on these House committees: (1) Insurance and Commerce, (2) the Arkansas Legislative Council, and (3) Judiciary (vice chairman).[2]
Wright and his wife, the former Kristen E. Collier (born c. 1976), have two children.
