Gustaf Markus Wiechel (born 15 April 1988 in Ljungsbro, Linköping, Sweden) is a Swedish politician (Sweden Democrat). Following the resignation of Lars Isovaara on 29 November 2012, Wiechel assumed office as member of parliament and a member of the Nordic Council. He graduated from Hickman High School in 2007.[1]

Markus Wiechel is currently the chairman for the Sweden Democrats regional board in Östergötland as well as a member of the national board of the Sweden Democrats.[2] He is the group leader for the party in Norrköping City Council and was one of three deputy members for the Sweden Democrats in the Parliament of Sweden (Riksdag) from 2010 until becoming a regular member in 2012.[3][4][5][6] As of September 2013, he is a columnist in the party newspaper "SD-Kuriren".

The Norrköping district court found in two separate verdicts in June 2010 Wiechel guilty of libel. In one case he was considered provoked, and did not have to pay damages to the plaintiff Tommy Funebo.[7] One verdict was affirmed by the Göta Court of Appeal in 2011.[8] In another verdict in June 2010, Wiechel was found not guilty of libel, but this verdict was overturned by the same court of appeals, which found Wiechel guilty, in 2011.[9]
