Markus Johansson (born December 22, 1984) is an American heavy metal guitarist and vocalist from Chicago, Illinois. He is currently the lead guitarist for the Australian thrash metal band, 4ARM,[1] and the lead vocalist and guitarist for Sylencer.[2]

Biography

Early years

Johansson is a self-taught lead guitarist from Chicago, Illinois, who began playing guitar when he was 13 years old. At the age of 17, Markus auditioned for Limp Bizkit, to which Fred Durst humorously told him to "go play for Megadeth, instead."[3] In 2009, Markus auditioned with Dying Fetus, but continued on as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist of the band Sylencer.[4]

A Lethal Dose of Truth

For A Lethal Dose of Truth, Sylencer's album, Johansson produced and called on some of hard rock and metal's most gifted musicians to lend their chops to the recordings. The featured guest list on A Lethal Dose of Truth includes Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat), Brendon Small (Dethklok), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), and Gene Hoglan (Testament), with nearly a dozen other current and former members of Iced Earth, Jag Panzer, Cynic, Helloween, Halford, Chimaira, Death, contributing as well.[3]

Equipment

Johansson is endorsed by Jackson Guitars, Gibson Guitars, Kramer Guitars, and Pigtronix Pedals.[5]
