Mark Machtolf is an American college baseball coach, the head coach of the Gonzaga Bulldogs baseball team since prior to the 2004 season, when he succeeded Steve Hertz as the team's head coach. Under Machtolf, Gonzaga appeared in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.[1] As a result of Gonzaga's successful season, Machtolf was named the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year.[2] His career head coaching record is 266-220-1.[3][4]
Machtolf attended Gonzaga Prep and Stanford University.[5] At Stanford, he played college baseball for the Cardinal from 1984-1987. In 1987, he was named to the All-College World Series Team as a designated hitter.[6] He also played college football at Stanford from 1983-1984.[7]
